Statistics South Africa (Stats SA) said the job applications were reopened due to the lack of applications during its first employment drive in July. Prospective recruits only have five days to register. At the time of the media release, applicants only had nine days to register. Young people, in particular, are urged to apply, “in order to learn and gain valuable experience in the date environment”.

Prospective employees must be proficient in any of the country’s 11 official languages, be a South African citizen with no criminal record, and be willing to work over weekends and outside normal office hours, the statement read. Statistics SA are only accepting online applications. “It is the strategic direction that the organisation is taking since the kind of work to be done will be electronic,” the organisation says.

According to Statistics SA, all prospective field workers need to register on its database. Even if you have done work for the organisation before, new elements have been added to the database, which will require you to register again.

Requirements

have a minimum of a Senior Certificate (Matric or equivalent).

Be proficient in any of the 11 official languages.

Be willing to work over weekends and outside of normal office hours.

Be an RSA citizen with no criminal record.

Go to the Statistics SA registration portal, and log on with your ID number.
